Kale Smoothies

Kids will eat kale!

Green leafy vegetables are some of the best foods you can put into your body.  Sometimes kale, spinach and chard are hard to get kids to try but put them in a smoothie and they’ll get sucked right down!

Start with just a few leaves at first, trying the smoothie as it blends.  The first few times we made them, I only added 5-6 large leaves to the blender.  The strawberries were still the main ingredient and the smoothie was still “pinkish.”

As you add more kale, the smoothie will turn green.  Experiment around with quantities of all ingredients for what suits your taste buds.

KALE STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE

  • 3 cups strawberries
  • 1-3 cups kale
  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups ice

Blend in a high-powered blender or Vita-Mix until smooth.

KALE WATERMELON SMOOTHIE

  • 4 cups watermelon
  • 1-3 cups kale
  • 1 lemon, peeled with seeds removed
  • 2 cups ice

Blend in a high-powered blender or Vita-Mix until smooth.
